The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center (CSPAC) and MilkBoy of Philadelphia are partnering up to open College Park’s newest restaurant, bar and live music venue this spring, MilkBoy ArtHouse.

The venue – which will be located along Route 1 on Baltimore Avenue – will host a wide range of local, national and international performers, including bands, classical pianists, spoken word.

According to the CSPAC executive director Martin Wollesen, MilkBoy Arthouse will be a unique experience, mixing the nightclub scene with the performing arts.

The venue was inspired by students and other members involved in Think-a-thon, a UMD student group in collaboration with Francis King Carey School of Law and the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance, according to CSPAC’s website.

Many students had requested more food options, and a new place they could gather with friends, Wolleson said.

“It sounds like a great opportunity for some talented people to get some exposure and real performance opportunity,” junior journalism major Matthew Baugher said.

According to Wollesen, the venue will host artists and events on a daily basis, and students will be organizing the day-to-day schedules.
Wollesen hopes MilkHouse ArtBoy will help the university become more involved with the College Park community.
