Thanksgiving Break Sendoff:

In lieu of our usual newsletter this week, I wanted to send everyone off into Thanksgiving break with much-needed, well-deserved encouragement. We’re almost there; the last day of classes is just over two weeks away. And while that may seem like an eternity with exams and projects still to tackle, this stress we’re all feeling—despite its intensity—is fleeting and navigable. With stiff academic demands and personal stressors, many of us are having a hard time. And while these intricacies of the human experience are common, the way we get through them is by not just taking care of ourselves but also each other. As long as you put in the time and effort, you should be proud of yourself no matter what the conclusion of your semester looks like. Whether you met your academic goals or fell short, your worth doesn’t change. When you see that friend or classmate in passing as everyone flocks to libraries and other study spaces, ask them how they’re doing. Offer to join them for coffee or the study break you both deserve. Get the largest size with extra whipped cream. When you get home, rest and recuperate. Check on that friend who’s struggling beyond the academic demands. Most importantly, ask for help when you need it. Head into Thanksgiving break with the mindset that the end of a tough semester is in sight, but that new beginnings on the horizon are plentiful and attainable. Go back for a second plate Thursday, have the extra slice of pumpkin pie, sleep well, and come back in December ready to clear that final hurdle. Good luck to everyone, no matter what battle you’re fighting inside, or hardship that’s at your forefront, or goals you hope to achieve as the fall wraps up.

All the best,

Andrew M.
